SAP EVALUATIONS

Failed DOT Test?

DOT drug and alcohol testing in the DOT world is serious business, and failing or refusing to take a DOT drug and alcohol test while working for a company under the Department of Transportation (DOT) federal regulations can cause you serious problems. If you fail a DOT test, you must be removed from your safety-sensitive position as mandated by the United States Department of Transportation (DOT).

There is still an opportunity for workers in this position to return to their position if they can get evaluated by a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) at The Collective and complete all education or treatment requirements.

Once all of this is complete, the driver must be sent to complete a return to duty DOT test by their current or prospective employer with negative results.

SAP EVALUATIONS

The qualified Substance Abuse Professionals at The Collective are trained to complete evaluations for employees in safety sensitive positions regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT). Our SAP services align with the guidelines of the Federal Department of Transportation. According to the U.S DOT, when testing positive or refusing to test, you are prohibited from performing any safety-sensitive duties under any DOT-regulated employer until you have seen a Substance Abuse Professional and completed the return-to-duty process. Let The Collective team help you return to work!

SEND SAP REQUEST

Once a driver with a verified DOT program violation is prohibited from performing safety-sensitive functions, the employer provides the driver with a list of DOT-qualified SAPs. The Collective is here to help you get back to work as soon as possible!

SAP DESIGNATED

Once you make contact with us, as a DOT-qualified SAP, and agree to participate in our program, we will help you get set up in the Clearinghouse, and we will become your designated SAP to get your return to duty process completed.

Initial SAP Assessment Completed

The next step requires you, the driver, to meet with our SAP for a face-to-face clinical SAP Evaluation. Once the assessment is completed, we will update your Clearinghouse profile and provide your employer with your return to duty plan.

Driver Determined Eligible For RTD Test

The Collective SAP will send recommendations to you for treatment and education. You must comply with the treatment(s) and educational requests given to you to receive a Return to Duty Letter and become eligible for RTD testing.

RTD Test With Negative Results

You will then be sent for an RTD test by your current or prospective employer. Once you can produce a negative RTD test result, you are no longer prohibited from performing safety-sensitive functions.

Follow-Up Testing Plan Completed

Once you have returned to work as a driver, any employer that employs you during the prescribed time will be responsible for completing the testing plan created by The Collective SAP.
